Sr Direct Support Professional

Job Description: 

HeartShare Human Services of NY is currently seeking Direct Support Professionals for our Summer Camp Programs in Brooklyn and Queens.  

We're looking for enthusiastic and attentive Direct Support Professionals to lead, support and motivate individuals with special needs. This is a seasonal position.  

Qualifications: 

High School Diploma, GED or higher degree  

Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred. 

Must be able to work Monday to Friday August 2023. 

NYS Driver's license strongly preferred 

Excellent verbal and written abilities 

Responsibilities: 

• Research, develop and execute fun and engaging activities, to create opportunities for discovery learning, adventure, and recreation. 

• Provide group and/or individual assistance to individuals with special needs in activities. 

• Proficient in Google Maps. 

• Remain positive, patient, and poise to supervise multiple individuals at once in the community. 

• Communicate with parents and providing updates where required.  

• Employment history of punctuality, reliability, and effective teamwork. 

• Reliable attendance and punctuality are critical for this role. 

• Good communication skills and relationship-building abilities to communicate with families, and co-workers. 

• Passionate and interested in leading and creating new opportunities/ activities for the individuals in your group.  

• Special skills welcome! (dance, fitness, yoga, art, theater, or your own talent). 

• Build a positive relationship with individuals and assist in fostering positive connections between individuals. 

• Conduct yourself as a professional and representative of the agency with staff, parents, individuals, and anyone else with whom you come into contact in your role 

• Adhere to policies and procedures in a proactive manner, making the safety and care of individuals in your group. 

• Valid NYS driver's license.
