Sr. Developer, Tableau

Data & Analytics Team is a dynamic and innovative team specializing in data analytics and business intelligence solutions. We are committed to helping our clients harness the power of data to make informed decisions and drive business success. As we embark on exciting new projects, we are seeking a Senior Tableau Developer to join our team and lead the development of cutting-edge Tableau solutions.

 

We are looking for an experienced Senior Tableau Developer to join our dynamic team for an exciting new project development. As a Senior Tableau Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining Tableau-based solutions to meet the project's data visualization requirements. You will collaborate closely with the project team to understand business needs, design effective data models, and create insightful visualizations that drive informed decision-making.

 

What you will do:

  • Tableau Development: Design, develop, and maintain Tableau dashboards, reports, and visualizations to meet the project requirements. Ensure data accuracy, performance, and adherence to best practices.
  • Visualization Design: Create visually appealing and intuitive dashboards that cater to end-users' needs. Implement best practices in user experience and data visualization to enhance storytelling.
  • User Experience: Lead the design phase of Tableau dashboards, focusing on user-centered design principles. Craft intuitive, user-friendly interfaces that empower end-users to effortlessly explore data and derive valuable insights. Pay meticulous attention to detail, ensuring the aesthetics and functionality of dashboards.
  • Data Integration: Work closely with data engineers and analysts to acquire, clean, and integrate data from various sources into Tableau for effective reporting and visualization.
  • Data Modeling: Create and manage data models that optimize data retrieval and processing for Tableau dashboards.
  • Data Analysis and Exploration: Collaborate closely with data analysts and business stakeholders to deeply understand project objectives and data requirements. Conduct in-depth data analysis, exploring complex datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and anomalies that can drive informed decision-making
  • Tableau Extensions: Research and implement extensions to enhance dashboard usability. Super Tables, Write Back etc.,
  • Performance Optimization and Scalability: Optimize Tableau dashboards for performance and efficiency, ensuring quick and accurate data retrieval and rendering. Identify and implement performance optimization strategies to ensure that Tableau dashboards load efficiently, even with large datasets. Continuously monitor the performance of Tableau dashboards and take proactive measures to optimize data retrieval, query efficiency, and load times. Design solutions that scale effectively as data volumes grow.
  • Performance Analysis: Analyze the impact of Tableau solutions on business operations and help refine dashboards based on performance feedback and user needs.
  • Automation: Develop automated processes for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) as needed to support real-time data reporting.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement and enforce quality assurance and testing processes to validate data accuracy and dashboard functionality. Security and Data Governance: Implement and enforce data security and governance policies to protect sensitive information and maintain data integrity.
  • Dashboard Maintenance: Regularly update and maintain Tableau dashboards to ensure they remain relevant and up to date with changing business needs.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Maintain comprehensive documentation of Tableau reports, dashboards, and ETL processes, making it easily accessible to the team. Actively participate in knowledge sharing and provide training to team members when necessary. Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including data source definitions, dashboard specifications, and user guides.
  • User Training and Support: Offer hands-on training sessions and provide ongoing support to end-users, enabling them to maximize the value of Tableau dashboards. Address user inquiries and issues promptly and effectively.
  • Client Collaboration: Collaborate with clients and project stakeholders to understand their business needs, gather requirements, and provide guidance on best practices for Tableau solutions.
  • Team Collaboration and Integration: Work closely with data engineers, data scientists, and other development team members to ensure the seamless integration of Tableau solutions with other systems and processes. Foster collaboration and maintain open lines of communication to align project objectives.
  • Stay Current: Keep up-to-date with the latest Tableau features, best practices, and industry trends to ensure the adoption of new tools and techniques. Continuously evaluate and recommend innovative solutions that enhance the project's data visualization capabilities and effectiveness.
  • Participation: Participate in regular project meetings, presenting progress updates, and actively contributing to discussions related to data visualization strategies and improvements

What you will bring to C&F:

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Tableau Developer with a minimum of 8 to 10 years in BI/Tableau development, including the creation of complex dashboards and reports.
  • Expert knowledge of data visualization principles and best practices.
  • Knowledge of AUBIE (Actionable, Useful, Beautiful, Intuitive, Engaging) Dashboard design.
  • Experience with Tableau Prep.
  • Proficiency in SQL for data manipulation and extraction.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling and data warehousing concepts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective client interaction.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and lead Tableau development efforts.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Tableau Desktop and Server certifications are desirable.
  • Experience with other BI tools like QlikView, Power BI is desired .
  • Experience with Tableau Predictive Modeling using R or Python is a plus

Crum & Forster is committed to ensuring a workplace free from discriminatory pay disparities and complying with applicable pay equity laws.  Salary ranges are available for all positions at this location, taking into account roles with a comparable level of responsibility and impact in the relevant labor market and these salary ranges are regularly reviewed and adjusted in accordance with prevailing market conditions. The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $78,900 to a maximum of $131,500. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
