What we are looking for:
Yazaki is looking for a Sr. Design Engineer to join our Electronics and Instrumentation team in Canton, MI. The engineer will provide design work for the Mechanical Design Department in supporting current projects, establishing the CAD/CAE tools base and future direction and professional development of the group associates. Maintain the database of the standard components used on the projects in the EIS department.
What you will be doing:
- Create component models, component drawings and conduct simulations per engineer's request.
- Schedule and efficiently distribute work requests.
- Champion the development of working relationships between CAD group and other groups inside and outside the EIS Department.
- Champion the development of CAD Design related EIS processes, procedures, and work instructions including DFM/DFA/DFT standards from manufacturing.
- Setting up and maintaining CAD Design Standards in the EIS department. Communicate with manufacturing locations on keeping those standards up to date.
- Work on institutionalization and commonization of the design processes as applicable to the CAD group.
- Lead direction for EIS CAD/CAE software tools; participate in CAD s/w evaluation process.
- Suggest CAD s/w upgrades and recommend on new s/w purchases.
- Maintain CAD tools and configuration settings for associates.
- Coordinate CAD/CAE software tool training for the department.
- Provide assistance to the EIS associates on CAD related issues.
What you will bring to the table:
- At least 8 years' experience with an Associate's Degree or 6 years' experience with a Bachelor's degree.
- Experience in CAD design, CAD/CAE tools application in automotive or related industry and CAD library maintenance.
- Knowledge of international standards: IPC, JEDEC, EIAJ, IEEE, SAE, ASME etc.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical information.
- Skills in identification and resolution of the complex problems.
- Creativity in developing new ideas, methods or approaches to assure enhancements in products quality and work performance for CAD group.
