How will you make an impact?Customer Channels Group (CCG) is currently developing an Enterprise Data Platform (EDP), including a real-time transactional data replication Operational Data Store (ODS) that will enable the Digital Business Transformation effort which is one of the largest undertakings that has been taken on by the organization.
In partnership with CCG’s business divisions, Thermo Fisher Shared Services, and CCG IT domain expertise, the Data Architect will craft Data Replication services, standards, architecture, and implementation strategies. They will also need to work with other IT leaders and project leads to understand downstream requirements for data to ensure success criteria is understood and met through our solutions and designs.
What will you do?
- Review Business Transformation projects and data requirements
- Work with the various Mainframe & Source System teams to understand data structures and challenges faced with accomplishing data replication
- Define architecture designs for bi-directional real time data flows & processing
- Understand the global Data Architecture of the ERP, business applications, customer & supplier facing applications, and Data Lake applications
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and usability for applications and analytics
- Participate in scrum/project teams to ensure data needs are being gathered, analyzed, and documented
- Drive DARSTRAN Waves of Table Replications (ISPWIN, Data Validations, Coordination with DBA & DevOps teams)
- This role is accountable for the development of data roadmap, setting standards for master and reference data, and developing and maintaining an overall enterprise data model
- Develop data flow design and architecture for the Analytics, Application Integration, and other technical implementation of the data subjects
- DBA SME - Access & Security Management Design/ Analyzing View Performances
- Data Modeler - Review Data Models
- Documentation and thought leadership for Environment Scalability and future architectural roadmap
- Leadership on Data Governance (Data Quality & Data Lineage), Platform Governance (Access Management, Performance, Scalability, etc.)
- Support Functional Solutioning team (Understanding data consumers request for data, how they plan on using the data, and building models and solutions to support the needs)
- Drive RCA for DARSTRAN Incidents and coordinate with IDMS DBA, Postgres DBA, ODS DevOps, and DARSTRAN Teams.
- Review DevOps Incidents and provide guidance
- Conduct ODS Code Review, Model Review, and Standards signoff.

- Experience with delivering large, sophisticated data and analytics solutions, including real time data replication.
- Experience designing and building data structures, data models, functional rules for business functions such as Sales & Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance and Customer Service
- Experience working with data replication from Mainframe IDMS systems and exposure to Bachman / Network database structures
- IDMS, AS400, VSAM environment understanding and/or experience
- IBM MQ knowledge and understanding
- Streamsets, DMS, Kafka expertise to assist in scalability architecture and planning for configurations of the future. (Realtime data replication expertise)
- Microservices architecture
- Python
- AWS experience (working with DBA, and admins)
- Linux
- Data Engineering /ETL - Pipeline development
- SQL expertise
- Postgres understanding / experience
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (Engineering, Computer Science etc.)
- demonstrated ability in operational data stores, data warehousing, business intelligence development, architecture, data engineering or similar role
- 5+ years in enterprise data modeling
- Working knowledge of AWS or other cloud-based data offerings
