JOB PURPOSE: This position is a member of the Population Health Department and works alongside other leaders and key stakeholders to achieve Piedmont's strategic, technical, clinical and operational goals. The analyst is responsible for the organization and analysis of data in support of process improvement initiatives for various clinical areas, value-based contract arrangements, Population Health programs and improved patient outcomes. The analyst will also abstract and enter data into the required databases and develop and generate outcomes reports and dashboards to measure program performance and disseminate them to applicable parties. The analyst also acts as an educational resource for executives, management, and other members of the leadership team and be responsible for data collection and validation for various reports/projects on an ongoing basis. The Analyst also stays up to date with industry innovations, trends and new technologies and will identify opportunities to improve reporting and analytics processes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Abstracts, organizes, and inputs data from the medical record, into appropriate quality databases.
2. Maintains integrity and security of all information and data within the scope of the position, with strict confidentiality.
3. Validates data and ensures integrity of data/databases.
4. Coordinates data cleanup and data harvests when appropriate.
5. Interprets and analyzes clinical and operational data from various sources to identify trends and causative factors, perform root cause analysis, and determine opportunities for improvement.
6. Generates outcome/summary reports and disseminate them to appropriate committees, managers, medical staff, and service line directors and other key stakeholders.
7. Monitors, troubleshoots, updates, and maintains databases.
8. Designs, builds, tests and delivers new reports and/or dashboards to measure progress towards goals and KPIs.
9. Develops understanding of various departmental workflows, Epic applications and other technologies and systems.
10. Provides consultative, technical and decision-making support to leadership for strategic program initiatives.
11. Develops and manages effective working relationships with other departments, groups and personnel with whom work must be coordinated or interfaced.
12. Other duties as assigned.

Advanced knowledge of spreadsheet, database and presentation software

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, or Bachelor's Degree from a recognized college or university in Business, Healthcare Administration, Information Technology, Industrial Engineering, Informatics or closely-related field with a focus on quality.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Three years previous experience in healthcare, information management, clinical data abstraction, data analysis, value-based care or quality role.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
If RN, current R.N. licensure in the state of Georgia.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree is preferred.
Tableau certification and/or experience preferred.
Epic certification and/or experience preferred.
SQL experience preferred.
Training or background in advanced spreadsheet or database software programs strongly preferred. Experience in presenting data using presentation software preferred. Knowledge and experience in clinical data abstraction and analysis preferred.
