Job Description
Job Summary: This position will be responsible for building comprehensive cost estimations of customer products in support of the sales engineering team. This position will collaborate with launch engineers, functional engineers, and the purchasing team to develop competitive costs for quotes. This position will also look to improve the processes and tools used to develop cost estimates to increase the speed and accuracy of those estimates.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Build comprehensive cost estimates of customer products. Ensure those estimates are completed efficiently, timely, and accurately. Estimating includes all aspects of the costs to build including material, internal processes, outside processes, and any other special items that will be required to meet customer specifications. Provide sufficient documentation of assumptions behind the estimates. Ensure that all documentation for estimates is recorded in the correct locations.
• Review the parts and estimates for cost savings opportunities. Make recommendations to the sales engineering team for Design for Manufacturability (DFM) opportunities. Explore and recommend innovative solutions to reduce manufacturing costs.
• Lead efforts to collaborate with Launch Engineering and Functional Engineering to estimate costs on tooling and specific key processes that require development work because they're not a current capability. Assist in developing cost benefit analysis for tooling and new equipment required for new programs.
• Effectively work with purchasing to obtain costs from outside suppliers for outside services when
necessary. Ensure accurate specifications and documentation are given to the purchasing team to ensure accurate quoting from suppliers. Collaborate with purchasing to look for opportunities to reduce costs from the supply base.
• Lead projects to develop new tools and methods for developing better estimates and improved reporting of estimates.
• Lead efforts in any other special projects that may be assigned by the Development Engineering Manager.

Education Experience
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in engineering 7-10 years related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in stamping and sheet metal fabrication.
2-3 years experience in metal fabrication Cost Development preferred.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Solidworks, and an estimating software. An understanding of SQL database is preferred.
