PRIMARY DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides strategic guidance, engineer solutions, and supports the technical needs of a major Navy-owned tactical network migration into a cloud-based Azure environment
- Works alongside both technical and leadership teams to define requirements, and works with Microsoft professional services to create a proposed solution
- Participates in the building, testing, deployment, and ongoing support of the new environment at turnover
- Participates in both hands-on technical work and in-depth analysis
- Cross-trains with existing team to understand the as-is environment
- Works with internal and external teams on a daily basis to coordinate major activities
- Defines execution path, timelines, risk, scope, and acceptance criteria
- Creates strategic and technical documentation to facilitate configuration management and lifecycle support including but not limited to: White Papers, AoAs, Cost Estimates, Schedules, Requirements, Design, Configuration, Implementation, and Training documentation
- Plans, designs, implements, and integrates solutions in Cloud, Data Center, and Network Operations Center (NOC) environments
- Leads and participates in strategic and technical meetings; communicates with sponsor leadership and their support staff as needed to effectively manage expectations and influence critical program decisions
Requirements
MINIMUM SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
- Five (5) or more years experience with:
- Azure Systems Engineering, to include architecture design, deployment, migration(s), configurations, and administration of a DoD owned Azure cloud environment
- Operating Systems Management (Linux, Windows, VMware)
- Networking technologies (primarily Cisco), and third party applications
- Ability to understand complex network operating systems and supporting infrastructure
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical discipline
- Active DoD Secret clearance, ability to upgrade to Top Secret
- Eligible for CSWF IAT II (Security+ Min)
DESIRED SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience with any or all of the following:
- Supporting large scale Navy or DoD Tactical Networks
- Automation (Ansible, preferably)
- Containerization (leveraging Openshift, preferably)
- Thorough understanding of DoD (Navy) Cyber security practices
- Networking (primarily Cisco, Juniper)
- Software Defined Networking (SDN) experience / understanding
- Storage technologies (vSAN preferably)
- Advanced certifications, such as:
- Azure certification (any)
- Linux: RHCE, RHCSA, or similar
- Cisco: CCNP, CCNA or similar
- Juniper (JNCIA-Junos, JNCIS-DevOps, JNCIS-ENT, JNCIS-SEC)
- VMware: VCP, VCAP, or similar
- Microsoft: MCSE, MCITP, or similar
