Job Title: Senior Civil Engineer II
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the central design figure on the team, responsible for designing grading layouts, street improvements, and underground facilities within FEI design standards, agency processing requirements, and client expectations. Perform complex design tasks and solve major design problems.
- Ensure the quality of design and implement new ideas through supervision, participation in plan reviews, and training of junior staff.
- Assist the team leader in client/agency interaction, striving to build lasting relationships and respect with clients. Attend meetings and conference calls as appropriate.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of the Manager, help develop the design concept and standards, coordinate with governmental agencies, and act as a design resource for team members.
- Train and coach junior team members, contributing to the team's professional growth.
- Prepare cost estimates, develop schedules, and coordinate the work of the design team with the Manager.
- Prepare technical reports and calculations (hydrology, hydraulics, sewer capacity, earthwork, water demand, etc.).
- Assure work/design is of high quality, cost-effective, and meets agency standards. Ensure it is "buildable."
- Perform complex design tasks and solve major design problems.
- Supervise Interns, Associate Engineers, Designers, and Engineers while rendering assistance to maintain project schedule. Coordinate staffing needs with the Manager.
- Serve as a design resource and leader for the team in the absence of the Manager.
- Assist the Manager with proposal, schedule, and "extras" preparation.
- Initiate, implement, and promote new ideas and procedures.
- Provide surveyors with staking plans and help resolve construction discrepancies.
- Provide construction support and develop responses to RFI's.
- Provide subordinate team members with complete information and criteria for the completion of work.
- Provide training opportunities that contribute to team members' professional development.
- Determine plan or report format and complete the necessary documentation for the design package.
- Assist Manager in processing plans for approval.
- Maintain punctuality and regular attendance.
Minimum Qualifications:
Supervisory Responsibilities: Train and coach junior members of the team.
Qualifications:

- Education, Experience & Knowledge: Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Civil Engineering or equivalent discipline from a four-year college or university, and Civil Engineering design experience totaling four years; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum three years independently solving complex engineering problems within land development. EIT certification is required. PE license or commitment to obtaining PE license within two years of hire/promotion is required. Well-developed problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and team-building skills. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D required.
