Sr Agricultural Researcher

We are looking to hire a passionate/mission-oriented/driven Senior Agricultural Researcher to be the subject matter expert for MyLand’s agricultural and alternative research related to soil health derived from MyLand’s system. This role will leverage expertise in agronomy, crop science, sustainable farming, and environmental sciences to guide the research initiatives. A key component of this role is the persons insight into enhancing crop quality, resource efficiency, environmental sustainability, and cross-collaboration with all teams and external stakeholders.

This role will report directly to the Director of Ag Science.

Responsibilities:

• Provide input for the design, construction, and execution of R&D Trials. This includes developing trial objectives and protocols, coordinating with external partners, and bringing key information back to the holistic research team.
• Conduct technical research and stay up to date on new developments: Conduct research on the latest developments in soil health, regenerative agriculture practices, and environmental sustainability.
• Attend industry meetings, conferences, conduct literature reviews, and collaborate with other industry professionals. Stay abreast of industry trends and contributes to the development of innovative solutions for customer challenges.
• Collaborate with grower relations, marketing, algae lab, and operations departments to develop and implement strategies to improve soil health
• Perform regular visits to farm locations and field experiments for observations to ensure data collection is accurate. Travel will be required according to seasonal demands.
• Monitor and evaluate farming technique improvements, which include soil moisture, pest management strategies, fertilization, and irrigation schedules as they relate to trial results.
• Monitor and report on the progress of soil health management initiatives, including research trials, training programs, and other activities.
• Communicate with company stakeholders regarding project progress, technical trends, and other input to ensure the research plan is accurate or needs revision.
• Create and develop research objectives and protocols for alternative applications including soil health remediation.

Skills & Qualifications:

• 15+ years of experience in environmental sciences, crop sciences, or a combination of farming and soil science experience.
• Must have a BS in Applied Sciences.
• Certified Crop Advisor, must hold an active CCA and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development to maintain certification.
• Written and verbal communication requirements.
• Exceptional expertise in algae, soil health, plant management, & crop fertigation practices.
• Skilled in Microsoft Suite.
