Who You Are
The SQL Data Migration Specialist holds a pivotal role in ensuring seamless Data Migration from Windows-based sources, facilitating API interactions for data posting and retrieval, and utilizing Power BI reporting tools to create and maintain reports for data visualization and analysis. This role acts as a crucial link between data sources, APIs, and the generation of data-driven insights.
What You'll Bring to the Table
  • Proficiency in SQL for custom Data Migrations, data transformation, and database querying.
  • Proficiency in Data Migration processes, ETL methodologies, and data integration tools.
  • Familiarity with general API usage, including making API calls, interpreting responses, and troubleshooting issues.
  • Strong knowledge of BI or other data visualization and reporting tools.
  • Data analysis and data quality assurance skills to ensure the reliability of reports.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in creating comprehensive and user-friendly technical documents, manuals, and guides for effective communication with end-users and stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving abilities and attention to detail in Data Migration and API usage.
  • Technical proficiency in Windows-based environments and data transfer protocols.
  • Familiarity with data security and compliance regulations.

What You'll Do
Data Migration:
  • Plan and execute Data Migration projects from diverse sources, requiring expertise in Windows-based and non-Windows platforms and potential custom data transformation and SQL proficiency.
  • Analyze data source formats, structures, and intricacies to design customized migration strategies as needed.
  • Leverage SQL expertise to create and implement custom database queries, data cleansing, and transformation routines during migrations.
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency throughout the migration process.
  • Collaborate closely with data source owners and stakeholders to extract relevant data, ensuring alignment with source data integrity and business requirements.
  • Provide guidance on SQL best practices and data mapping techniques to ensure the success of complex custom migrations.

API Interaction:
  • Utilize general API knowledge to integrate with data sources for data retrieval and posting as required.
  • Create and manage API calls to access and manipulate data within the organization's ecosystem.
  • Provide guidance and support to teams using APIs for data integration, ensuring best practices.

BI Reporting:
  • Develop interactive and visually appealing reports and dashboards using Power BI or similar tools.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand reporting needs and requirements.
  • Maintain and optimize existing reports, ensuring data accuracy and relevance.
  • Train end-users on report navigation and self-service reporting capabilities.

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, IT, Data Science or similar)
  • You have relevant certifications (e.g., MCSE, MCSA, OCP, AWS Data Analytics, Power BI, or similar)
  • You are based in Utah
