Job description

Description
The Resident Advisor (RA) role is a student leadership position through the Office of Student Affairs under the direct supervision of the Director of Student Affairs and the Housing and Residential Life Coordinator. In addition to having administrative duties, RAs are a presence and resource in the residence halls and assist in fostering a positive educational and community environment at AMDA.
All applicants must submit at least one letter of recommendation and a cover letter through the Jobvite website to be considered for the position.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be enrolled for in-person classes at AMDA NY during the term of employment.
  • Must possess a 3.0 cumulative GPA and maintain this GPA while serving as a RA.
  • Must be a 2nd or 3rd semester student for the upcoming term.
  • Must have an exemplary attendance record as deemed by and at the discretion of Student Affairs.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • The RA is expected to serve as a role model for the AMDA student body by serving as a responsible member of the AMDA community.
  • The RA is expected to know and establish rapport with residential students by being available and visible in the residence halls and campus community.
  • The RA must be present for training, attend regular meetings with the supervisor and other Housing team members, and stay on campus through the day after graduation.
  • The RA must speak with their manager before scheduling any time away from the campus, as there must be campus coverage at all times.
  • The RA must uphold and personally abide by all Code of Conduct policies and federal and state laws as specified in the AMDA Student Handbook.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
  • RA's may be assigned to a building different from their currently assigned building. Any candidate unwilling to change buildings will not be considered for the position.
  • Some candidates may be offered the Alternate RA position. While the responsibilities are similar to a "Full Time" RA, Alternate RAs receive remuneration with hourly pay by completing an AMDA Student Worker Timesheet, logging all their work associated with the position (i.e., meetings, on-call hours, program planning).

AMDA is proud to be an EOE employer M/F/D/V.
