General Function:

To provide a high-quality basketball training experience for all individual and small group personal training participants in a fun and safe environment.

Know-How:

A YMCA Sports Instructor is required to possess knowledge of sports and drills to improve skills. First aid/CPR/AED certification is also required. Other YMCA specific training to be completed within the first 6 months of employment.

Job Segments:

1. Arrive in a timely manner and be prepared to deliver quality programming for each session.
2. Start and end session on time.
3. Demonstrate proper form and technique to clients.
4. Manage a safe training environment and maintain the safety of all participants.
5. Manage client documentation.
6. Supervise clients to ensure proper use all equipment used in sessions.
7. Provide motivation, inspiration, and support for all clients.
8. Will embrace, use and require all department staff to use all tools provided to increase the level of member satisfaction.
9. Promote self and YMCA personal training program by participating in demo sessions and fitness orientations for new members.
10. Assist with related programs and fitness events.
11. Provide leadership and make new members feel welcome.
12. Demonstrate Responsibility, Respect, Caring & Honesty towards members, guests, co-workers, and supervisor at all times.
13. Promote and follow fitness guidelines at all times.
14. Maintain physical ability to provide quality instruction for all individual and small group training clients.
15. In an effort to keep employee injuries to a minimum, will encourage all staff to perform their duties in a safe and efficient manner. In all incidences, proper equipment must be used for the task being performed.
16. Perform any unique duties requested, as deemed appropriate, by your supervisor.
