TITLE:Speech and Language Pathology Assistant (SLP-A)
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.Associate Degree for Speech Language Assistant or
Bachelors Degree in Communication Disorders
2. Eligible for South Dakota SLP-A licensure when it becomes available
3. Desire to work with young students with autism spectrum disorders within the school setting
REPORTS TO: Dir. of Special Services and District Autism Specialist
Performance Responsibilities:
- Provide direct therapy or ABA/Discrete trial training following the plan written by Autism specialist
- Assist with speech, language, and hearing screenings as needed
- Assist Autism specialist during student assessments
- Document student performance and report information to Autism Specialist and SLP
- Assist with informal documentation as directed by Autism Specialist
- Perform clerical duties (scheduling, material preparations, record keeping, equipment maintenance, etc)
- Support the Autism Specialist with in-service training, public relations programs, and research projects
- Demonstrate compliance with regulations, reimbursement requirements, district policies, and SLP-A's job responsibilities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Terms of Employment: Wages, benefits, and terms to be established by the Board of Education
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the School Board's policy on evaluation of classified staff.
