Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our team that is looking for a flexible schedule, to provide quality care, and for opportunities to grow professionally. As a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), you will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating individuals with communication and swallowing disorders. Your expertise will make a significant impact on the lives of our clients and their families by helping them improve their speech and language abilities. Duties
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess speech, language, and/or swallowing disorders in the pediatric population
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on evaluation results
- Provide therapy sessions to patients to improve speech and language skills
- Collaborate with parents/caregivers/families to coordinate client care
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary
- Educate patients and their families on communication strategies and techniques
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient evaluations, progress, and treatment outcomes
- Contribute to marketing materials by writing blogs or documenting engaging treatment activities
- Communicate directly with clients to aid in scheduling and re-scheduling sessions based on availability
- Opportunities to mentor speech-language pathology graduate students or speech-language pathology assistant students
- Supervision of treatment completed by speech-language pathology assistants (SLPAs)
Skills
To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills:
- Strong knowledge of physiology and anatomy related to speech and language
- Familiarity with medical and educational terminology used in speech therapy
- Excellent client and family care skills, including active listening and empathy
- Ability to demonstrate a professional and personable attitude when interacting with clients, families, and co-workers
- Ability to effectively manage cases and prioritize workload
- Experience providing speech and language services to the pediatric population either in an education, clinic, and/or home health setting
- Proficiency in conducting patient assessments preferred using standardized tools
- Strong written communication skills to provide detailed evaluation reports and clear treatment plans to families
- Knowledge of various speech therapy techniques and interventions
- Professional goals to increase knowledge of various speech and language therapy interventions
- Ability to mentor other professionals or future professionals using effective communication skills
