Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Speech-Language Pathologist to join our dynamic team in the school setting. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting students' communication and Language development, ensuring they have the necessary skills to excel academically and socially.
Responsibilities:
1. Assessment and Evaluation:
- Conduct comprehensive Speech and Language assessments to identify communication disorders.
- Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to gather relevant information for assessments.
- Interpret assessment results and communicate findings to parents, teachers, and relevant team members.
2. Individualized Intervention:
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address Speech and Language goals.
- Provide direct therapy services to students with various communication disorders.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate Speech and Language goals into the academic curriculum.
3. Collaboration and Consultation:
- Work closely with teachers, special education staff, and other professionals to support students in inclusive classrooms.
- Provide consultation to teachers and parents on strategies to enhance communication skills in various settings.
- Attend and actively participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings.
4. Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Prepare detailed reports for IEP meetings and other relevant conferences.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding documentation and reporting.
5. Professional Development:
- Stay current with research and advancements in the field of speech-language pathology.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning within the school community.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Current New York State license in Speech-Language Pathology.
- New York State Teaching Certification in Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD).
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred.
- Experience working in a school setting is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to adapt intervention strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.
