Qualified Applicants will be proficient in instructing Braille and be willing to work with students age 3-22. this position is itinerant and applicants must have access to a vehicle and be willing to travel to multiple schools.
Speaking to the specific work of an Orientation and Mobility specialist, O&M specialists teach individuals with visual impairments to navigate their environments safely, confidently, and independently. They work with all ages of children and youth frequently on a one-to-one basis. Work settings are in schools and also include outlings that take place within the community to help students with visual impairments know how to navigate their surroundings and utilize such services as public transportation.
