STAR LABS is eagerly looking for a Specimen Accessioner to add to their team. Position is FT Mon-Fri 9am-5pm, willingness to work some hours on Sat a plus.
- Proficient in specimen processing
- Unpacking, sorting, and verifying of specimens received from couriers.
- Labels, aliquots, and delivers samples to appropriate testing area while maintaining chain-of-custody.
- Enters orders and demographic information into the computer system.
- Determines specimen suitability based on established laboratory procedures.
- Resolves problem specimens and follow procedures for specimen storage and disposal.
- Forwards any misdirected specimen received.
- Maintains a stocked, organized, and clean workstation.
- Maintains confidentiality of all information.
- Performs data entry of specimen demographic information.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by leadership.
Requirements:
- The right candidate will be detail-oriented, have meticulous spelling and grammar.
- Experience in a lab setting, hematology and medical insurance knowledge is a plus.
- Must provide references to validate experience.
