About the position

Reporting to the Vice President, People Experience, the Specialist, Talent owns the talent management process for the organization. This includes recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement and retention, learning and development, performance management, and succession planning. This person will build relationships with every team member across the organization to ensure each person feels engaged and invested. The Specialist will use data to identify gaps in our talent management processes and for continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, have a passion for nurturing talent and can drive employee growth and engagement.

Responsibilities and duties

Recruitment

  • Collaborate with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and workforce planning strategies
  • Develop and implement innovative recruitment strategies to attract top-tier talent
  • Own the recruitment and selection process, including conducting interviews and assessments as needed
  • Support hiring managers during the recruitment and selection process by establishing clear expectations of the role of the hiring manager and the role of the PX team
  • Build and maintain relationships with external talent sources and agencies

Onboarding

  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of our onboarding program
  • Collaborate with departmental stakeholders to design an effective onboarding curriculum
  • Review existing onboarding materials, including handbooks, checklists, and training resources and update them to reflect best practices
  • Ensure a seamless and user-friendly digital onboarding experience for new employees
  • Own the onboarding of each new team member and ensure a positive experience for new hires
  • Coordinate talent assessments
  • Schedule onboarding meetings in accordance with the onboarding schedule

Employee Engagement and Retention

  • Develop and implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement and satisfaction
  • Partner with the Vice President, People Experience and external consultants for the deployment of engagement surveys and supporting improvement efforts
  • Identify and address factors that impact employee retention and recommend strategies to enhance it
  • Manage and execute the recognition program for employee milestones and spot bonuses
  • Prepare follow-up communications/presentations to all staff
  • Partner with leadership on action plans as needed

Learning & Development

  • Collaborate with leaders across the organization on developmental needs for each team member including assistance with finding appropriate external resources
  • Work closely with department managers to identify specific training and development needs for different roles
  • Develop and deliver training sessions and workshops to equip new hires with the skills and knowledge they need

Performance Management

  • Assist in performance management processes, including tracking and follow-up for performance reviews
  • Participate in performance improvement plans and disciplinary actions as needed
  • Ensure fairness and consistency in performance-related matters
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of performance programs and propose improvements
