Southwire Job Description

This individual will be an actively engaged member of the Operational Sustainability Team supporting the Culture of Zero. The Program Manager will support and drive planning, execution, engagement, and evaluation of the overall sustainability program and associated projects at our sites. As a key member of the Operational Sustainability team, this individual will help deliver Southwire’s ambitious goals to reduce energy, water, and waste from our operations and ensure the success of Southwire’s Five Sustainability tenets across all sites.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic planning and execution – Responsible for helping develop and deliver the operational sustainability strategy and overall program. Will be required to support sustainability OPEX & CAPEX projects at specific sites as well as centrally led initiatives.
  • Program design and evaluation – Ensure the various sustainability programs are active and provide continuous improvements in the process to effectively execute the deliverables. Apply the Plan Do Check Adjust methodology to create the necessary revisions based on continuous assessments.
  • Stakeholder Engagement – Drive stakeholder engagement by understanding the customers’ pain points and value creation. Change management will be key to success as we connect the Southwire sustainability culture with our team members’ hearts & minds.
  • Resource Management – Stay abreast of resource requirements, both from human and financial disciplines to support the programs. Provide financial and Project Management leadership to ensure the programs’ success.
  • Leadership and Communication – Drive to be a situational leader based on the needs of our stakeholders and customers. Proactive, effective communication is key to success, including a consistent cadence with stakeholders. Provide materials to publish lessons learned, best practices and recognitions of our team members internally and externally.
  • Program Metrics – Refine and review the programs’ KPIs. Metrics should be accurate and delivered in-line with our decision-making processes (DHP) to support Southwire’s operational sustainability initiatives.
  • EHS – Promote health and safety in all aspects of the work. Include environmental considerations in the decision-making process.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Construction Management, or related field required
  • 10 years of experience in engineering, environmental, sustainability, Project Management, strategy deployment
  • 50% travel required
