PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The position is responsible to provide planning & performance oversight across major streams within the Facility business:
Project Management Support
  • Includes the guiding of Project Managers and stakeholders through capital and expense determinations, tracking of accumulated project costs, vendor commitment tracking, new vendor account coordination with AP, vendor relationship from a procurement standpoint including contract support, Service Orders and POs, SAP project setup - essentially a Project Management Office function within Facilities

National Vendor Management
  • Implements and oversee National Vendor payment best practices in order to streamline and enhance CPKC's ability to benefit from vendor volume discounts, early payment discounts and improve line of sight to service provided

Lease-In Management (CPKC as a tenant USA & Mexico)
  • Supports the leasing process from start to finish as per Facilities SOX controls including Capital alternative evaluations in support of CP's strategy to exit leased premises, adhering and guiding stakeholders through the initiation governance process, coordinating between landlords and tenants, and monitoring and tracking of payment rent payments

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Develops, and assists in the planning and execution of annual and multi-year capital and expense initiatives that improve Facilities' ability to provide cost effective facilities and asset servicing and maintenance
  • Develops and assists in the planning of annual and multi-year capital and expense planning for Facilities infrastructure and building and equipment improvements and replacements
  • Supports, and guides Facilities Project Managers and field teams in developing their initiatives, by providing project-tracking guidance, documenting scope and project costs and identifying economic benefits of the project initiatives
  • Develops documentation to satisfy capital and expense governance requirements (IFRs & AFE's) and gather input requirements to facilitate the approval process
  • Reads vendor contracts to understand payment terms, obligations, and terms to leverage commitments against forecasts and budgets Develop & distribute various standardized project tracking models and performance & financial measures reports
  • Maintains Active and Regular contact with Project Planning Group to ensure Facility upgrades and modifications are planned, budgeted, and executed within allowed limits
  • Perform Quarterly reconciliation of lease commitments through the Rent Roll and Finance commitment documentation
  • Provide analytical support for various time-sensitive senior management queries - Projects, Utilities, leasing and other
  • Gathers key lease contract terms and summarizes for stakeholder evaluation, approval processes, and reporting and analysis purposes. Reconciles rent payments against contract requirements

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • University degree in business, accounting, finance or related field
  • Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience
  • Must have 1 year or accounting, accounts payable or accounts receivable experience
  • Must have 1 year of prior experience with a large ERP system (e.g. SAP, JD Edwards)
  • Fluency in Spanish (written and oral)
  • Process management skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • ERP/SAP expertise (desirable)
  • Application Expertise (desirable): BPC, Excel
  • Ability to set and meet deadlines and work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to build relationships cross functionally

Management Conductor Program:
Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
