Buckeye Partners is currently seeking a Specialist Corrosion I with experience in pipeline and tank corrosion control in the Oil & Gas Industry to join our growing team!

Role Summary:

Manage the planning, development, implementation and maintenance of the Company corrosion control programs.

Responsibilities & Essential Functions include:

· Ensure adequate levels of cathodic protection for the pipelines, tanks and related facilities within the Region. Maintain the cathodic protection database for line sections within the Region. 

· Implement plans for remedial work including material purchases, resources, and equipment requirements, and schedule and oversee the installation.

· Supervise “Outside Services” contractors performing corrosion control work. This includes regular annual surveys, close interval surveys, rectifier/groundbed installations, shorted casing remediation, etc.

· Support Region Work Team objectives and immediate needs.

· Propose, prioritize and justify projects for Corrosion Control.

· System-wide responsibility for corrosion control compliance with Company policy and governmental regulations.

· Review corrosion control data and integrate with other Pipeline and Tank Integrity Programs.

· Manage and maintain Buckeye's corrosion control record keeping systems.

· Develop Company policy and procedures for corrosion control and represents Company on regulatory audits.

· Develop and direct the long-term, asset maintenance work plan for corrosion control.

· Develop budget for Company-wide corrosion control programs.

· Provide training/development/evaluation for Asset Team corrosion control personnel.

· Represent Buckeye Pipe Line Company at State/City/Area Corrosion Coordinating Committees and local NACE International Sections.

· Maintain professional knowledge and expertise in an environment of rapidly changing technology.

· And other duties as assigned.

 


Position Requirements:

· 1-3 years related field experience in pipeline and/or tank corrosion control.

· Proficiency using Microsoft Office and familiarity with commercial Corrosion Control databases required.

· Up to 25% Travel Required

 


Certificates & Licenses:

· NACE Training Courses – Basic Corrosion, CP-1

· AUCSC Basic or Purdue Basic

· Rectifier Training

· Valid driver’s license

 

 

 

Other Skills, Attributes and Abilities:

· In order to be successful in this position, one must have excellent analytical skills to resolve business and operations problems and have good communication skills to consult with others to provide technical assistance. The individual must be a well-organized project manager with the ability to monitor and direct the work of contractors and evaluate their performance.

· Regular travel to field locations for required testing, observation, consultation and training.

· Must be able to climb tank stairways, enter tanks through manways, walk pipeline right-of-way in all terrain and withstand extreme weather conditions in both summer and winter.

· The Specialist Corrosion I should be readily available to provide technical assistance during responses to pipeline releases or other emergencies.

 


Essential Functions:

· This position requires the ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and or/quantitative productivity standards.

· This role requires the ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

· This position requires compliance with all personnel policies.

 


Physical & Safety Requirements:

· This role is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.

· The employee is frequently required to effectively communicate with others.

· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

· This position requires the ability to work comfortably and safely in the proximity to open water.
