Atlas has an hourly as needed opportunity for experienced Special Inspector’s in the San Diego area!
An ideal candidate will have experience performing construction testing and inspection of welding, concrete, masonry, and structural steel. Certifications in reinforced concrete, pre-stressed concrete, structural masonry, structural steel, high strength bolting, fire-stopping, spray-applied fireproofing, commercial building B2 preferred.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Knowledge of buildings, structure, construction methods, procedures, practices, plans, specifications; materials used and performance and safety responsibilities related to construction of transportation facilities, civil work and building construction
- Perform routine and advanced field tests in accordance with ASTM, ACI, AASHTO, DOT or other standards
- Knowledge of the general inspection and testing principles; safety; and quality control-quality assurance principles.
- Document observations and inspections of construction including discrepancy notices for non-compliant items, report inspections and test results accurately and on time
- Communicate effectively with project staff and project construction team
- Be a role model for other employees
- Depending on experience, help train and review Special Inspectors/field technicians
- Be a safety leader by helping achieve and maintain a safe work environment
- Maintain existing clients and assisting in developing new clients
- Proven ability to use electronic data for reporting and communicating with the client and project professionals.

- Stay current on the company’s training requirements and the agency’s certifications
Requirements
Desired Requirements
- Certifications with ICC, AWS, ACI, IFC. City of San Diego a plus.
- Experience in preparing reports, ability to read/interpret drawings, technical knowledge, and strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Strong personal safety awareness.
- High School Diploma, GED or Associate’s Degree required
- A valid driver's license is required
- Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy.
- Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required
Physical Demands
- Lifting of concrete cylinders, wheel barrows and other tools is necessary; Requires the ability to lift 50 pounds;
- Position may require work in adverse weather conditions, long hours, night shifts, and weekends.
Compensation:
$30 - $45 Hourly
The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the state’s law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
