Job Description
We are seeking a licensed Special Education Teacher to join our supportive and collaborative team! Our school is a dual language school where our students are learning in both English and Spanish. We are a free public, elementary charter school, serving students throughout the City of Las Vegas. We are located in downtown Las Vegas and are looking for educators who are passionate about serving the children in our community. We are looking to hire immediately to start ASAP. Competitive pay above the level of surrounding districts and other charter schools ranging from $58,471.45 to $97,000.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and educate students in a classroom setting
- Develop and implement daily and long-range lesson plans using research-based strategies to meet the needs of all students
- Adhere to established teaching curriculum
- Maintain positive relationships with students and parents
- Document and share student grades and evaluations
- Ensure that students with disabilities are receiving a free and appropriate education in the least restrictive environment
- Adhere to federal, state, and local mandates in Special Education.
- Provide a classroom management plan ensuring student safety at all times
- Prepare IEPs, and/or referrals for additional/alternative academic and/or positive behavioral supports
- Manage and monitor Special Education caseload (confidential folders, IEPs. MDTs, etc.) to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance
- Collaborate with licensed staff and administration when designing class schedules as it relates to students with disabilities
- Collaborates effectively and professionally with administration, staff, parents/guardians, and the community
- Inform site administration of Special Education concerns/issues that may be supervisory in nature
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in teaching or other educational fields
- Strong classroom management skills
- Ability to build rapport with students
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong leadership qualities
- Must possess or be able to acquire by the time of appointment to the position, a Special Education teaching license issued by the Nevada Departemnt of Education
