Form of workSpecial Education Instructional Assistant Elementary - 2023-2024 School:Memorial Elementary Job Goal:The Developmental Skills Classroom Instructional Assistant provides programming for children with autism spectrum disorders and related disabilities instruction in academic, social language, motor, self-regulation, leisure, and life skills. Duties and Responsibilities Provide systemic, individualized instruction in an intensive learning environment with frequent hands-on practice in a variety of settings in a consistent manner as directed by the lead teacherTeach critical skills across settings to assist students to generalize academic, social, communication/language, health, safety and adaptive life skills in relevant contextsEmploy Applied Behavior Analytic (ABA) methodologies to teach skills across a student's dayProvide instruction in a variety of formats (task analysis, discrete trial, incidental teaching, group instruction) and incorporate other evidence-based curricula that best suit the individual student's learning style informed by dataConsult with the DSC Teacher and BCBA and related service providers to implement behavior plans and individualized reinforcement plans.Meet weekly with support staff to review student data and programs, curriculum, and student behavioral issuesParticipate in district-provided safety and de-escalation trainingUtilize skills and strategies as needed and in accordance with behavior management plansPerforms other related duties as required, directed, or as the situation dictates Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Special Education or education preferredGood organizational and communication skillsStart Date:Immediately through the end of the 2023/2024 school year Compensation:Benefits and salary in accordance with the Instructional Assistants contract Burlington's student body represents a broad range of cultures and backgrounds.
