Annual Salary: $40,000-45,000
Job Summary:
Join our dedicated student-centered team of educators! As the Special Education teacher, you will support and inspire students with disabilities to prepare for college and career readiness. You will further the development of intervention programs for individual or small group instruction to close academic gaps. Additionally, you will collaborate with other professionals to accommodate existing curriculum on core subjects to meet each student's specific needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides positive environment with engaging instructional content.
  • Instructs assigned classes in locations and times designated.
  • Creates relevant plans that meet the individual needs, interests and abilities.
  • Supports teachers and staff with accommodations in inclusive classrooms.
  • Maintains data collection, updates records and documentation.
  • Develops IEPs, BIPs and supports the MTSS process.
  • Administers assessments and progress monitoring.
  • Maintains compliance with confidentiality laws (FERPA).
  • Completes plans and assessments required by law and State rules and regulations.
  • Facilitates meetings within required timelines.
  • Assists students with problem solving techniques and conflict resolution.
  • Implements JICS policies regarding behaviors and discipline with support from administrative staff.
  • Collaborates with building staff, educators, administrators, parents and outside agencies regarding effective strategies for facilitating learning and resolving behavioral matters.
  • Communicates clearly in verbal and written formats with students, parents and coworkers.
  • Possesses knowledge of Direct Instruction methodology.
  • Participates in professional development/training sessions and team meetings.
Qualifications:
  • Valid Colorado teaching license endorsed in area of assignment: 5-21 Special Education Generalist.
  • BA/BS from accredited college or university.
  • Passing scores for PRAXIS required for licensure.
  • JICS will consider candidates who have been accepted into a CDE approved program that will allow eligibility for a CO teaching license or added endorsement in Special Education upon completion of the program. This candidate will be required to attain a Temporary Educator Eligibility (TEE) to begin working as the Special Education teacher. Evidence of your program acceptance letter that states you are in a CDE approved program for Special Education Generalist and evidence that the college/university is willing to sign off on all TEE paperwork is required.
