Duties

The United States Space Force (USSF) at Kirtland AFB (New Mexico) is searching for a Special Access Program (SAP) Officer, SSC/ZAS (GS-0080-12).
Description:
Do you want a challenge in the realm of classified Security? Have you always wanted to be the tip of the spear in controlling the classified requirements of a military organization? This is the job for you. Come join the United States Space Force and join a security team responsible for the unit and personnel within in protecting tip of the spear technologies and space-based programs. This job will give you education in multiple security disciplines and responsibilities that will make you eligible for a career in the highly touted security specialist positions throughout the Department of Defense. An average day in this position will see the individual perform many tasks that support the SSC/SZI missions and programs. Some of these duties include: Prepares program protection plans, integrating security considerations/systems into acquisition planning and execution. Develops and conducts surveys and analyses to identify how critical and vulnerable facilities or sites are and threats against them. Assist with the accreditation cycle for all assigned SAPFs and SCIFs to include development of FFCs, addendums, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Ensures the proper receipt, dispatch, transmission, and maintenance of access, accountability, and inventory records for TS SAP material. Ensures the submission of SAP nomination packages to the appropriate PSO/ PM/AAA for review, coordination, and access determination. Monitors and maintains current listing of access personnel by DoD, DoD civilian, and industrial contractor personnel and initiates action to keep the clearance and access of individual's current. Oversees prescreening interviews of candidates and based upon the interview and analysis of the nomination packages, security clearance request, and similar related material, makes initial determination regarding presence of information that may adversely reflect on the individual's loyalty of character. Renders expert security consultation on technical and procedural problems and assist system program and project engineers and managers in their resolution.
Ideal Candidate:
Candidate must be able to effectively integrates security needs and requirements into the DoD acquisition process. Evaluate risk assessment, surveys, and other activities to keep risks and vulnerabilities well within acceptable tolerance levels. Take timely and effective action to correct security breaches and violations, report to proper officials, and undertake "damage control" measures. Candidate will consistently assist with oversight to ensure all procedures and required SAP documentation is current, accurate, and reflects the security posture of assigned SAPFs/SCIFs. Consistently ensures corrective actions are identified, executed, resolved, and communicated to PSO and SSC/SZI leadership within timelines identified in corrective action plan. Ensures applicable documents are consistently coordinated with Program management and leadership. Be able to execute personnel security program assignments IAW governing laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, etc. Assigns correct sensitivity and access requirements to duties and individuals/employees. Performs timely and effectively screens, processes and takes appropriate disposition action regarding SCI nomination packages. Represents the organization in a professional and effective manner by proactively preparing for structured meetings and anticipated exchanges. Provide accurate, effective, and well-reasoned guidance, advice, and assistance. Timely and effectively carries out assigned action items.

  • Must be a U.S Citizen.
  • Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret / SCI clearance.
  • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
  • This position is not eligible for telework.
  • PCS and recruitment funding is available.

  • This position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program.
