Why does the job exist?
To perform a variety of clerical duties in support of Women, Infant and Children program operations; provide customer service to program participants and applicants; screen and calculate applicant eligibility; to process program documentation; issue benefits to certified clients; participate in community outreach and perform other related duties.
How does it get done?
Maintain effective and efficient Women, Infant and Children (WIC) program operations by verifying residency and identification, determines income eligibility, makes appointments and maintains confidentiality of client information according to Federal and State WIC policies and procedures. This position devotes a substantial portion of their time providing direct client services as well as customer services skills.

Public Women, Infants and Children participants.
Ideal Candidate
Knowledge of clerical and administrative skills and procedures. Customer service skills and customer satisfaction on a professional basis. Knowledge of bilingual languages, including spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar. Active listener, giving full attention to what clients and co-workers say as well as understanding, showing respect and politeness. to all people coming in contact with. Being aware of cultural differences among clientele and co-workers.
Minimum Qualification
High School Diploma or Equivalent and three (3) months of general office experience. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office and a clinic setting with direct client contact and with exposure to visual/video display terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Extensive travel to surrounding area clinics, field and community site settings may be required. Incumbent may be required to use private vehicle due to limited availability of state owned vehicles. Lifting up to fifty (50) pounds may be required.
