The role, at a glance:
The AV Service Technician determines the source(s) of failure on sold product deemed defective by our Applications Engineering team and is responsible for the repair and for performing functional testing. The AV Service Technician will also communicate with customers as needed for non-warranty repairs, part information requests, and parts orders.
How you'll contribute:
- Provide both warranty and non-warranty evaluations and repairs of loudspeaker systems.
- Make restock/scrap determinations for sales returns based on visual and operational evaluations.
- Performs basic testing of loudspeakers per established processes.
- Complete material movement transactions within the inventory system for service shop repairs.
- Accurately record defect causes in quality records database.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects as appropriate.
- Quoting, entering, and fulfilling spare parts orders.
You'll also support with:
- Maintain replacement parts lists for global use.
- Ensure replacement parts stock levels are appropriate at all warehouse locations.
- Maintain information on loudspeaker mechanics, wiring and schematics.
- Process field service station warranty claim documentation.
- Maintain the field station service manual and service procedures documentation.
- Provide support for product quality or production as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
A successful candidate should have:
- Associates Degree in electronics or equivalent experience.
- Two years of related experience in an electronics manufacturing environment preferred.
- Working knowledge of digital and analog audio electronics.
- Ability to read and effectively use schematics for troubleshooting purposes, and to perform testing of loudspeakers per established processes.
- Proficient with basic electronic test and repair equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope, sweep generator, power supplies, soldering iron, etc.).
- Ability to multitask and to be flexible in a dynamic work environment.
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Basic use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Capable of working autonomously while supporting team goals and objectives.
Work environment:
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. frequently.
- Sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Perform tasks (that may be repetitive) that require reaching, pushing, pulling, kneeling, walking, stooping and/or bending.
- Use tools that require fine hand skills.
- Ability to distinguish colors.
- Ability to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as required in designated areas.
