POSITION SUMMARY
The Instructional Assistant is to assist classroom teachers in the instructional process, reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of students in a classroom environment. Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and implementation of daily processes and provide student support with academic and/or physical needs.
Essential Functions
- Work effectively and efficiently to engage all students
- Be receptive to guidance on job responsibilities from classroom teachers and directors
- Work in a positive and calming manner with students
- Work in a professional manner with all staff and as a team member
- Be punctual in attendance
- Communicate with the teacher regarding pertinent information in regards to students
- Document information as directed by the teacher
- Maintain confidentiality on all special education students
Requirements
- Fluent in Spanish
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; not required. Associate's degree or 60 semester hours of college credit
- Preferred experience working with students with autism and charter school settings.
- Basic understanding of Individual Education Plans and Behavior Intervention Plans
- Willing to be flexible as the classroom needs require
- Embrace challenge in assisting the classroom teacher with achieving effective outcomes/high growth for all ability levels.
