Job description

The Spa Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the facility. The Spa Manager will ensure the Spa runs as expectedby overseeing and supervising appointments and activities that may occur at the spa. The Spa Manager provides coverage and supervision for spa reception area, fitness center and pool area, oversees the service providers in the absence of the Lead Therapist and is responsible for relaying maintenance and housekeeping requests to the proper staff.The Spa Manager will oversee staff training, and act as the liaison to other revenue centers on property. The Spa Manager uses strong leadership to motivate staff to achieve goals and exceed guest expectations.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a fully staffed department by recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, and scheduling all staff.
  • Submits all paperwork and financial reporting, including payroll, in accordance with TSV policy.
  • Creates and implements budgets including revenue, labor allocation, and product cost expectations.
  • Ensures that financial goals are attained by developing and implementing a retail sales plan.
  • Establishes service and retail goals for staff and provides guidance on how to achieve them.
  • Ensures fiscal responsibility through efficient scheduling of facility and makes necessary changes to stay within budgetary guidelines.
  • Provides excellent customer service and monitors guest feedback.
  • Responsible for monthly inventory of product
  • Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation standards including all spa treatment rooms, dispensary, fitness center and pool area.
  • Set up training with selected staff and create schedules for new employees to cover product, services, orientation, computer, and customer service standards.
  • Assess all employees' progress continually, trains employees, coaches employees with positive reinforcement and disciplines fairly and consistently, participates in annual performance evaluations, and assists in the termination process when necessary.
  • Creates a team of service providers to meet all aspects of professionalism and service demands.
  • Ensure all technical staff understands products and services as well as common daily practices.
  • Ensure that work areas are clean and set according to procedures.
  • Answer guest questions in a knowledgeable and professional manner.
  • Have knowledge of ingredient(s) of product(s) and their benefits to the guest
  • Have knowledge of and suggest to guest other beneficial treatments offered in spa.
  • Remain current on staff certifications and professional requirements.
  • Creates and updates operating procedures for daily activities as needed to maintain quality standards within the spa.
  • Coaches employees with positive reinforcement and counsels when there are performance deficiencies. Applies discipline fairly and consistently. Participates in annual performance review.
  • Ensures an effective inventory system with the par stock levels implemented for spa equipment and supplies.
  • Ensures compliance with all state licensing and health requirements.
  • Provides reservation procedures using spa software or a manual reservation system.
  • Prepares any incident or accident reports and forwards them to the Risk Management Department and General Manager of The Blake
  • Reliable attendance on all scheduled workdays
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Knowledge:

  • High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 5+ years of successful spa management experience
  • Knowledge of professional spa services and treatments.
  • Knowledge of retail operations and inventory systems.
  • Ability and comfort with sales.
  • Ability to show initiative and make decisions.
  • Professional manner, discretion, and appearance
  • Able to communicate both verbally and in written format to guests and staff.
  • Efficient, well organized, and able to handle a variety of duties simultaneously.
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, and motivational.
  • Strong team player.
  • High level of customer service skills
  • Effective leadership skills and a strong work ethic.
  • Able to handle emergency situations in a calm and reasonable manner.
  • This position required the ability to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, walk, and talk.

  • The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Normal work hours: Varied to include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Work Environment:

Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to stand or sit for a long period of time. Must be able to work over the phone or on a computer for extended periods of time. TSVI is located in a high-altitude alpine environment. Position may require travel on uneven, snow packed, or icy terrain and may be exposed to wet, cold and/or humid conditions.

Physical Demands of Position Include:

Position requires you to lift up to 25 pounds on a frequent basis and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. This position requires you to be able to stand, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, walk, talk, hear and smell. Requires ability to stand for long periods of time.
