Job Title: Sous Chef
Job Type, FLSA: Part-time, non-exempt
Reports To: Executive Chef
Primary Responsibilities
The Sous Chef is responsible for providing support to the Executive Chef and maintaining kitchen safety standards. The position requires the individual to assist with food preparation, basic meal preparation, and general utility work as well as meal service. This is an hourly position with compensation based on experience. The Sous Chef works 25 hours per week.
Job Duties
- Create fresh, healthy, and delicious meals for residents and staff
- Transport, carry, and deliver prepared food for meal service
- Drive to/from grocery stores and between houses
- Receive and put away food orders
- Interact daily with residents providing excellent customer service
- Execute delicious meals in a timely manner
- Maintain cleanliness and basic maintenance of kitchen spaces and equipment
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
- Perform dishwashing and general utility work as required
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and residents
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 2 to 5 years food preparation experience
- Food Safety Manager Certificate
- Culinary degree preferred
- Ability to work on feet for extended periods of time
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- General computer skills for online ordering from food vendor, time card entry, etc.
- Previous work in congregate care or residential treatment setting a plus
- Practical interview may be required after initial interview
- Must be punctual and reliable
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Must have a clean driving record
