DESCRIPTION:
Join our dynamic team and work in a beautiful hotel setting with an unobstructed view of the ocean! We are currently seeking an experienced Sous Chef that is passionate about farm fresh, garden-to-table concepts that highlight seasonality and the delicious bounty from our local land and sea. We are looking for creative individuals with strong culinary skills that can provide authentic and memorable experiences that deliver the Southern California Dream to our guests.
The Sous Chef is responsible for providing supportive leadership to kitchen staff throughout service. Their duties include assisting the Head Chef in monitoring kitchen activities, expediting orders to ensure quality taste and presentation, and taking on additional responsibilities in the Head Chefs absence to ensure that kitchen staff has proper direction.
RESPONSIBILITES:
- Preparing meals and food to meet the specifications of guests in a timely manner
- Properly measuring kitchen ingredients and food portions
- Ensure kitchen staff adheres to set standards, procedures, department & company rules
- Using kitchen knives and equipment such as grills, ovens, steamers and warmers safely
- Managing the kitchen inventory and ensuring supplies and products are fresh and of high quality
- Ensure strict compliance with health, safety and sanitation guidelines including proper food temperatures when cooking and proper storage
- Keeping the workstation and kitchen equipment clean, organized and sanitized
- Taking charge of kitchen opening, closing and other side duties as directed by the Head Chef
- Work with integrity and respect for your fellow team members at all times and assist in maintaining a positive and thriving work environment
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Exceptional cooking skills with precise attention to detail, balance and flavor profiles
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage, motivate and delegate duties fairly
- Strong knowledge of health and safety standards
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Point of Sale and restaurant management software
- Ability to multitask and work quickly under pressure
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Hotel experience preferred
- Ability to lift, push and pull 50 lbs
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
This is a salary position ranging from $66,800. - $86,600 (Based on Experience)
