THIS IS A PART-TIME POSITION LOCATED IN KNOXVILLE, TN. (20 HOURS PER WEEK)
JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Sonographer is responsible for conducting all sonographic exams in the OB/GYN Center. The Sonographer will also assist the administrative director with scheduling plans, maintain equipment and supplies for sonograms, assist with developing policies and procedures, communicates effectively with the staff, patients, and providers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs ultrasonic diagnostic procedures in accordance with accepted protocols as directed by the directing Physician.
- Instructs patients regarding procedures to ensure cooperation and optimum test results.
- Follows prescribed safety standards in operating equipment.
- Maintains ultrasound equipment in appropriate operating condition.
- Maintains examination rooms and work areas.
- Orders and stocks all ultrasound supplies.
- Maintains accurate department records and reports as directed.
- Assists directing Physician with training duties for Resident Physicians.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: Associate's Degree from an accredited Diagnostic Ultrasound Technology.(TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: One (1) year experience as a sonographer for OB/GYN.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Current ROMS certification in the following areas: Abdomen and Small Parts, and OB/GYN. (COPY OF LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to effectively operate sonographic equipment.
- Ability to evaluate sonograms in order to acquire appropriate diagnostic information.
- Ability to integrate diagnostic sonograms, laboratory results, patient history and medical records and adapt sonographic examination as necessary.
- Ability to use independent judgment to acquire the optimum diagnostic sonographic information in each examination performed.
- Ability to evaluate, synthesize and communicate diagnostic information to the attending physician.
- Ability to communicate effectively with the patient and the health care team, recognizing the special nature of sonographic examinations and patient's needs.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and health care team.
- Ability to follow established departmental procedures.
- Ability to work efficiently and cope with emergency situations.
