Responsibilities
The Sonographer is accountable for operating the ultrasound scanners, transporting patients to and from the department, scheduling patients, answering questions, and calling exam reports. The candidate must be able to maintain a high standard of imaging. Thorough knowledge of ultrasound physics, anatomy and positioning is essential for a quality exam. Must be able to handle multiple demands simultaneously and keep a helpful attitude toward patients, their families and hospital staff. Must be able to coordinate patient prepping and scanning to maximize smooth patient flow.
The successful candidate will be able to:
- Handle patient support equipment, i.e. IV pumps and pulse oximeters.
- Help clean rooms and equipment and order supplies.
- Assist physicians with invasive procedures and administer basic CPR.
- Assist the Supervisor in the daily operation of the ultrasound department
Qualifications
Minimum Job Requirements
- Technical, Associates or Bachelors degree, formal training in Sonography
- Must be registered or registry eligible with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
- If registry eligible upon hire, you must become registered within one year of employment
- Preference will be given to those that are ARDMS registered in OB/GYN and Abdominal
- Active BLS certification
