Job description

Job Summary:
Leidos QTC Health Services is hiring a Solutions Architect. We have started a significant modernization effort in the way it builds software by moving away from monolithic applications towards microservices, automation, elastic infrastructure, and cloud. As an experienced architect, you will help Leidos QTC Health Services on its transformation journey by working closely with business and IT, understanding the enterprise landscape and current challenges, designing innovative solutions that focus on the big picture, and working with delivery teams to ensure proper implementation. You will also serve as a change agent, coach, educator and facilitator within IT and Leidos QTC Health Services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Review and analyze business and technical requirements
  • Design and recommend enterprise-class cloud and on premise solutions that combine in-house built software and third-party provided SaaS systems
  • Create and deliver proposals and presentations on Solution Architecture
  • Document Solution Architecture and architectural decisions
  • Write, maintain, and effectively communicate software engineering design documents and integration specification
  • Coordinate projects with vendors to expand our business-critical systems
  • Translate business needs into long-term architecture vision, solutions, and roadmaps
  • Gain a complete understanding of requirements and effectively communicate them to implementation teams
  • Act as the highest-level technical expert, addressing problems of application design and integration
  • Assist in the design and development of new software applications or major enhancements to existing ones
  • Visualize and document current-state and future-state architectures (business, functional, non-functional, application, technology, security, and data)
  • Prototype solutions in .Net running in cloud environments
  • Keep designs and architectures current with each delivery increment
  • Communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Design solutions that are performant, scalable, secure, and resilient
  • Create and communicate enterprise guidelines, standards, and reference architectures
  • Lead vendor/product evaluations and buy vs. build decisions
  • Promote the use of shared platforms and services
  • Keep abreast of technological advancements, industry trends, and major vendors
  • Provide thought leadership in the areas of software architecture and modern application design
  • Work closely with all IT disciplines including business analysis, program/project management, software engineering, quality assurance, database engineering, network and infrastructure engineering, security, release, and support
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Competencies:
  • Must have microservices, API, cloud, and .Net experience
  • Demonstrated track record in architecting, implementing and maintaining complex enterprise-class solutions
  • Proven experience as a software architect working on large-scale projects
  • Proven ability to visualize end-to-end system components across a wide range of technologies
  • Experience in writing white papers, RFI responses, and proposals
  • Mastery of architectural styles, design patterns, and modern application building techniques
  • Experience in vendor platform evaluations including criteria and scorecard development
  • Solid knowledge in all major areas of technical architecture and platforms:
    • Microservices, RESTful APIs, API management, queuing and messaging, logging and monitoring, integration, workflow, automation, Agile/scrum
    • Identity, authentication/authorization, API hardening, encryption, privacy, scalability, and resiliency
    • Azure, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, compute, storage, network, serverless, CI/CD, and DevOps
    • C#, .Net/Core, ASP.Net/Core, HTML, Typescript, etc.
    • SQL Server, Oracle, NoSQL DBs, ETL, analytics, and BI
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical, organizational, and task management skills
  • Strong leadership skills to include collaboration, communication and presentation, ability to influence others, strategic thinking, and accountability

Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education required
  • 9 to 14 years of progressive professional experience in software engineering and Solution Architecture
  • Azure or AWS certification highly desirable
  • Experience in the healthcare industry is a plus
  • Must be able to successfully pass National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation

Pay and Benefits:
Salary range $150,000 - $180,000 w/ 8% bonus eligibility
Other levels may be considered:
The salary ranges and years of experience for each level are as follows:
Level 3: 5 to 9 years of experience $125,000 - $150,000 w/ 8% bonus eligibility
Level 5: 14 to 20 years of experience $180,000 - $200,000 w/ 8% bonus eligibility
