Solidworks Drafter

A SolidWorks Drafter is needed for a company based out of Knoxville, TN. This a 6 month contract to hire role. Compensation starting at $21/hr with upward flexibility dependent upon professional experience and skillset 

Job Description: SolidWorks Drafter 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
• Uses computer aided design/drafting software (Solidworks) to develop designs/drawings.
• Creates and makes production drawing revisions (component part, layout, and assembly drawings) that include detailed multi-views with all necessary dimensions.
• Generates 3D & 2D component parts and assemblies of proposed designs in appropriate CAD system, checks dimension of parts, material to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to whole structure or project.
• Utilizes knowledge of various manufacturing principles, engineering practices, mathematics, materials, and physical sciences to complete detailed designs and drawings.
• Creates finished designs from sketches.
• Creates and maintains drafting standards utilizing appropriate company guidelines.
• Responsible for setting up and maintaining an organized file system for all Production Drawings.
• Applies Part numbers to drive Bill of material for procurement.
• Checks documentation for compliance with ISO 9001 and AAR regulations.
• Communicates with Purchasing, QA, Engineering, and Manufacturing regarding new and revised designs or drawings and submits designs to suppliers for a quote.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 
• A high skill level in Solid works CAD system important.
• Must be able to learn and utilize CAD systems.
• Skilled in PC usage and associated software including Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, etc.).
• Ability to go up and down Frames / Ladders and able to be outside on the shop floor /hands on.
• Hand Tool Knowledge, Metal Fabrication Knowledge and Welding Knowledge preferred.
Education and Experience:
• Associates of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Computer Aided Design Drafting and/or applicable experience.
• 2-3 years related experience
