IS THIS SOMETHING THAT INTERESTS YOU?

The Software Sales Engineer will primarily be responsible for bridging the knowledge and experience gap between the Sales and Customer Success teams. The primary role of a Software Sales Engineer is to sell Foods Connected software and services to clients by understanding their needs and demonstrating how the product meets those needs through the software.


The Software Sales Engineer is an instrumental part of the sales and marketing team and will report to the head of sales in North America. Through close collaboration and alignment with our Commercial Sales team, you will deliver engaging and thought-provoking product demonstrations to businesses across the food industry globally to provide detailed insight into the value that Foods Connected Systems adds to their business. A strong knowledge of demonstrating SaaS products and an interest in the food industry will be required to effectively understand the issues faced across the sector and how the Foods Connected products can offer solutions.


As part of this role, we expect high attention to detail. Preparing customized demos that engage the audience will be required, along with building customer proposals.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research the technical requirements and challenges of a customer’s business and translate those requirements into a solution that the Foods Connected software can provide.
  • Through in-depth product demonstrations, the Software Sales Engineer will guide prospective customers through the features and benefits of the software for their business, including conducting software demos and proof-of-concept exercises.
  • Respond to technical questions and customer concerns, including software functionality, performance, security, project management, integrations, and reporting requirements.
  • Tailoring product demos to showcase the specific features most relevant to the prospects’ needs, providing a more personalized experience.
  • Where necessary, give prospects hands-on experience to understand better how the software works by getting a natural feel for it by using it themselves.
  • The Sales Engineer will play a pivotal role in preparing and responding to a Request for Proposal (RFP) response in a high-quality and timely manner, ensuring alignment with the company messaging and value propositions.
  • Manage the creation and adoption of the proposal by creating tailored system demonstrations that will showcase Foods Connected unique capabilities and benefits by aligning them with the specific needs of each potential customer.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Sales in North America to identify potential customers, create proposals, and develop pricing and licensing options.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting to customers, including helping customers resolve technical issues and answering questions about the software.
  • Build trust between the prospect and Foods Connected by showing an in-depth knowledge of the software, the prospect's business, and the broader trends and issues affecting the food industry.
  • Staying up to date with new Foods Connected functionality: The Software Sales Engineer must stay updated with the latest features and updates to Foods Connected and external technology trends.
  • The Software Sales Engineer must stay current with the latest trends and changes to legislation and external factors affecting the Food Industry.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and 2 year’s relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years’ experience in a similar role interacting with and demonstrating a SaaS platform.
  • Experience contributing to or leading and presenting technical proposals as part of Sales Lifecycles.
  • Prior experience with the Software and/or food industry.

Experience Required:

To perform this job successfully, the Software Sales Engineer should have experience with:


  • Microsoft: 365 Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Knowledge of HubSpot or similar CRM system.
  • An understanding of the functionality and gaps of the products and services they are selling utilised across the Food Industry by retailers and manufacturers.
