General Description:The Software Engineer is responsible software development and maintenance within the institutions Enterprise Resource Planning Software. This position will work with a variety of staff and users to provide programming and analytical support for both existing and new enterprise systems. This includes customization, third party integrations, testing, and documentation, reporting and troubleshooting related to enterprise software systems.

Minimum Education/Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Processing, Management Information Systems or related field.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Ability to work effectively as a part of a team as well as independently.
Experience with MS .Net, C# , MVC, Visual Studio
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong scripting skills in HTML, CSS, Javascript.
Experience with Json, APIs and Restful web services
Strong data analysis skills
Software engineering concepts (requirements management, development models, testing and documentation)
Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and public is required.

1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Medium work: This position requires the person to occasionally exert up to 50 pounds of force and frequently exert up to 20 pounds of force and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to Administration, Staff, Faculty, Students, and others to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.
This position requires the person to frequently remain in a standing and stationary position.
This position requires the person to frequently move about the campus and classrooms.
This position requires the person to frequently position self to grasp, move, lift, push, pull, work on, or operate equipment.
This position requires the person to frequently use upper and lower body to exert force up to 50 pounds to grasp, lift, carry, push, and/or pull materials or equipment.
3. VISUAL ACUITY:
This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.
4. WORKING CONDITIONS
This position’s essential functions are performed both indoors and outdoors. When working outdoors this person is subject to extreme cold (temperatures below 32 degrees) and extreme hot temperatures (temperatures above 100 degrees).
This position requires the person to communicate above ambient noise levels and exchange accurate information in various situations.
This position requires the person to frequently be exposed to hazards such as but not limited to: close proximity to moving mechanical parts and/or electrical current; working on scaffolding and high places; exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals, oils, and/or other cutting fluids.
This position requires the person to frequently be exposed to fumes, odors, dusts and gases associated building maintenance and operations.
This position requires the person to frequently perform essential functions in close quarters; crawl spaces; shafts; small, enclosed rooms; narrow aisles or passageways.
Experience working in a Higher Education Environment
Knowledge of and experience with Enterprise Reporting tools.
Experience working with Ellucian Colleague and integrated applications
Serve in a general role in the OCCC emergency management plan. An employee in this position must complete National Incident Management System (NIMS) training within the first 90 days of employment (subject to class availability) and on a continuing basis as required. The specific courses to be completed within 90 days of employment in this position include:

Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement):Support software and databases related to enterprise-wide software systems, especially Colleague and related systems
Maintains Colleague development, test, conversion and production environments.
Conduct system mentoring, develop and implement procedures to optimize performance and ensure system security
Troubleshoot operating system and database problems.
Responsible for creating and maintaining user access.
Responsible for creating and maintaining security classes/roles.
Responsible for regularly scheduled database maintenance updates and patches.
Installs and maintains SQL server database systems.
Integrate Colleague with other campus systems as needed
Prepare periodic reports on the system and database usage/performance.
Create internal technical documentation for IITS staff.
Abide by the policies and procedures published in the Board of Regents Policies and College Policies & Procedures.
Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.
Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.
Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC’s established safety and health procedures and practices.
Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation, shelter in place drills, and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
