Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer IIto join the Building Control Systems Division. This is a remote position located within driving distance to Carlsbad, CA, Pleasant Grove, UT, or Middletown, PA. The Software Engineer will be initially responsible for developing embedded software in a Linux environment for innovative home automation and lighting systems. Subsequent assignments may include desktop programming in .NET. The successful candidate will show an aptitude for software development and team communications.
What Will You Do?
- Develop embedded software for a Linux environment utilizing C/C++.
- Perform unit tests and/or automated integration tests.
- Collaborate with other developers to integrate mobile devices into lighting and shading product development.
- Work on an Agile development team.
- Support project planning efforts including task definition and work effort.
- Participate in code reviews.
Basic Qualifications:
- BS in Computer Science or Engineering.
- Minimum 2 years of professional software development using languages like C, C++, VB.NET or C#.NET.
- Experience with embedded Linux software development.
- Experience working in an agile software development team.
- Experience with Git or similar version control system.
- BS Computer Science is preferred. A BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering is preferred over other engineering disciplines.
- Experience with cross-compilation tool chains and open-source Linux distributions.
- Has worked in a development team of at least 3 Software Engineers.
- Leadership qualities. Can lead others by example.
- Possess outstanding logic, geared for root cause analysis.
- Excellent attention to details.
- Well-developed critical thinking capability to evaluate completeness of requirements.
- Experience developing with Qt.
- Excellent written and verbal communications.
- Effective use of on-line team collaboration tools.
- Socket programming.
- Ruby, Python, or similar scripting language.
- Design experience with iOS or Android application development.
- Domain knowledge in home automation or internet of things.
- Domain knowledge in TCP/IP networks.
- Located within driving distance of Carlsbad, CA; Pleasant Grove, UT; or Middletown, PA.
