What You'll Do
We're looking for a Software Engineer to join our Enterprise Platform Engineering team! We are going all in with AWS and you'll be instrumental in contributing to the advancement of how our community builds, delivers, integrates and measures applications. This role will work closely with the community of engineers and product teams to help contribute to and influence the adoption of AWS at Principal. We're looking for an individual who is passionate about technology and committed to driving and engineering solution-based outcomes. You'll have the opportunity to:
  • Consult with cloud engineering teams and stakeholders to understand AWS problems and DevSecOps engineering challenges.
  • Help reduce the barrier to entry for AWS by engineering solutions and influencing culture/process improvements.
  • Reduce security risks and improve cloud engineering productivity through solution engineering and consulting with teams.
  • Contribute to Principal's AWS Landing Zone to provide automated security and compliance guard rails.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and other automation templates.

Who You Are
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree (preference in a computer science, technology, engineering or math-related field) or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of Software Engineering experience with strong hands-on programming
  • Experience working on a multi-functional team with other roles (e.g. user experience/design and product partners)
  • Excellent planning, organizational, problem-solving, analytical, decision-making and communication skills
  • Must have the desire to learn new technology and continuously grow
Additional preferred technical experience:
  • AWS EC2, S3, Lambda, etc.
  • Terraform, Python, Typescript, Powershell, and/or Cloud Formation
  • Github and CI/CD pipelines
  • Application development or infrastructure automation
  • Security engineering mindset
  • Networking and lower-level infrastructure engineering

Salary Range Information
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range
$63750 - $182400 / year
Time Off Program
Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don't accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.
