Position Summary:
We are looking for a passionate and result-oriented Software Engineer to drive design and implementation of the large-scale, multi-tiered, distributed software applications and services.
A successful candidate will have a strong software development background, exceptional design skills, and excellent problem solving and communication skills. Our Software Engineer will work closely with software architects, User Experience teams, business owners and other senior developers and principals to build and maintain a highly engaging web application, the face of our Healthcare system from conception to production. You will learn a lot about designing and developing distributed systems, web and mobile application, and cutting edge web technologies.
As a Software Engineer in the Digital Patient Experience team, you will be at the forefront building out core pieces of the infrastructure to deliver an elegant and intuitive online experience for the patients in our Healthcare system from conception to production.
Accountabilities
- A focus on business solution alignment, from requirements gathering, architecting technical solution designs, development of technical objects, testing and system deployments
- Ownership of technical objects with respect to project, enhancement and production support processes
- Collaborates with Functional/Business Analysts to ensure that requirements, design, testing and production processes are understood
- Creation of accurate, unambiguous technical design specifications to the required level of detail according to schedule as defined by the Development Manager
- Conducts code reviews and knowledge sharing opportunities for the team and ensures deliverables meets standards and best practices as defined by the Development Manager
- Documents technical and installation documentation for production migrations
- Achievement of agreed productivity targets to ensure developments are delivered within budget, to schedule and to defined quality standards.
- Produces estimates of work effort for defined scope of work and articulates identified planning risks and potential mitigations
- Timely and accurate reporting of project status on weekly cadence or as per project needs
- Partners with IT disciplines to architect solutions, troubleshoot issues and deliver IT services
- Mentor junior team members in best practices and standards
- Articulates clear and concise translations of technical analysis and priority to business and technical organizations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
- 2-5 years' experience as Software Engineer
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and communications skills in development team configurations
- Experience in hosted web application development
- Additional experience with mobile devices and mobile development (desirable)
- Experience in developing hosted solutions on any cloud platforms
