SIGMADESIGN has collaborated with a Scientific Manufacturer seeking an experiencedSoftware Engineerto join their facility in Tigard Oregon. This company has decades of combined Biomedical research and instrument design experience delivering high performance scientific tools. This position is onsite in Tigard, Oregon.

Primary Function:
Our client is looking for a Software Engineer who will be a self-starter with user interface domain experience. As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automation systems and control solutions to enhance the efficiency and reliability of our high-performance scientific tools to advance medical research. In this role, you will be involved in design and planning discussions, as well as developing solutions for current coding problems.
Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:
- Develop appealing and user-friendly GUI and backend infrastructure.
- Produce clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
- Design, develop, and maintain robust software applications tailored to control our systems in imaging and automation.
- Integrate software applications with diverse hardware components, ensuring seamless communications, synchronization, and functionality.
- Contribute to the creation and optimization of algorithms for data processing, image analysis, automation workflows, and biological control systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and translate them into functional software solutions.
- Follow industry-standard best practices for software development, version control, and quality assurance.
- Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to other team members.
- Conduct thorough testing, troubleshooting, and debugging of software to ensure reliability, scalability, and performance optimization.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in software development.
Education and Experience: (Knowledge, skills, & abilities)
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field and 5+ years relevant experience.
- Proven experience in software development, particularly in creating applications that interact with hardware systems.
- Proficiency with C# is required.
- Proficiency with one of more of: C++, Python, Javascript/Typescript, REST API is highly desired.
- Experience with .NET, WPF, WINUI, Electron.js, React.js, Node.js, Flask, Multiple operating systems is highly desirable.
- Strong proficiency in object-oriented software design and development.
- Strong understanding of hardware interfaces, protocols, and communications standards (e.g., USB, Ethernet, serial communication).
- Knowledge of software development best practices, including Agile methodologies in JIRA.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git, software testing methodologies, and debugging tools.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as TeamCity.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL server.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and the ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.
- Knowledge of image processing techniques, automation principles, and biological control systems is highly desirable.
- Pass a post-offer background verification.
Work Environment:
ENGINEERING: Standard office environment with normal amounts of office related conditions. Occasionally may be required to work in environmental conditions that emulate typical user environments in order to facilitate design testing and validation. Occasionally may be required to travel as required to other facilities, clients or suppliers.
