The Role / Responsibilities:

The Software Engineer is responsible for building, designing, and maintaining all websites and software applications in the Commercial Real Estate operating unit. This role will lead all web functionality efforts, involving both frontend and backend development, to ensure the website meets user and business expectations.

 

This role fulfils the following responsibilities with little to moderate guidance.

  • Create well-designed and tested code using best practices for web development, including for responsive design and mobile display.
  • Design and manage the website’s backend including database and server integration.
  • Establish and guide the website’s architecture.
  • Plan and deliver software platforms and products across the commercial real estate unit.
  • Develop testing schedules that address all browsers and devices, ensuring web content can be accessed on any computer.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues and addresses website bugs, software problems, or issues related to themes, plugins, hosting environments, etc.
  • Conduct cross-browser and cross-device testing to ensure a consistent user experience across various platforms and devices.
  • Communicate and meet regularly with colleagues, stakeholders, and managers to review business and functional requirements and to determine project scopes and specifications.
  • Ensure software stability via regression, support quality assurance, and perform unit and user-acceptance testing to identify bugs.
  • Make web edits requested by internal stakeholders and customers, develop plans for completing larger projects, and suggest solutions to improve existing websites.
  • Perform UI design and coding and creates reusable objects and wireframes for web pages.
  • Help optimize website performance through code and test websites to adhere to standards set forth by Google’s PageSpeed Insights, Page Experience, Core Web Vitals reporting, etc.
  • Oversee technical aspects of the CMS and server-side configurations for optimal performance.
  • Maintain WordPress core and plugin software through regular testing and implement software updates related to WordPress core, plugins, or theme files.
  • Provide feedback on requirements from a technical perspective and provide timeline estimates for projects and tasks.
  • Confer with internal and external teams to resolve conflicts, prioritize needs, develop content criteria, or choose solutions.
  • Work with quality assurance engineers to fix defects.
  • Collaborate with build and release engineers to prepare packages and solve environment issues.
  • Maintain technical documents.
  • Stay plugged into emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them into operations and activities.
  • Accomplish company goals by accepting ownership of new and different requests.
  • Review code of Associate Software Engineers.

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related major from top institutions, Masters degree is a plus.
  • Front-end programming software such as HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, JavaScript (vanilla JS, jQuery, ES6), Angular, and React
  • WordPress core architecture
  • Experience in planning and developing websites across multiple products and organizations
  • Experience designing and developing responsive design websites
  • 3+  years of professional software development experience on multi-tiered enterprise applications.
  • Hands-on experience with network diagnostics
  • Experience with both relational databases, familiar with NoSQL databases
  • Able to work well within the constructs of an agile development process, including SCRUM, Unit Testing, Continuous Build and Integration, etc.
  • Willing to learn new technologies; capable of self-directed learning.
  • Very good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments concurrently and independently manage time through effective project management.
  • Works well in a fast-paced team environment; able to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines
  • Has superb analytical skills and persistence in problem solving.
  • Experienced in Development tools: Visual Studio, Eclipse (CDT), IntelliJ IDEA, WebStorm, etc.
  • Experienced in Development Platforms: Microsoft Windows, Linux.
  • Experienced in Application Servers: IIS, Tomcat, WebSphere, Resin, Jetty, Apache, ExpressJS, etc.
  • Experienced in Application Frameworks & Engines: ASP.NET MVC, ASP.NET WEB API, Microsoft WPF/WCF/WWF, Linq, Unity, Entity Framework, SharePoint, Microsoft Enterprise Library, etc. J2SE, J2EE, JDBC, RMI/IIOP, Spring framework,  JPA(Java Persistence API) or other ORM framework such as Hibernate or iBatics, JTA(Java Transaction API),  Java WebService, JavaMail and JMS, etc. STL, Boost, GTest, etc. JQuery, Node.js, Angular.js, Bootstrap, etc.
  • Familiar with Databases: SQL, Oracle, Sybase, MySql, MongoDB, etc.
  • Experienced in Others: Jira, Rally, CVS, SVN, Perforce, Git, Jenkins, etc.

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $94,800.00 – $137,400.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody’s also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
