YOUR OPPORTUNITY
We have an exciting Software Engineer IV opportunity in our Merriam, KS office. In this highly impactful role, you will be a key member of the information technology team. The Software Engineer IV will supervise, mentor, and develop a team of engineers and/or services on projects, initiatives, and support activities. This individual will be responsible for creating and/or approving designs for solutions. This individual will collaborate with Architects and business partners to deliver strategic solutions that meet the company's existing systems architecture and technology portfolio. In addition, the Software Engineer IV is responsible for influencing and setting standards and ensuring they are followed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the planning, coordinating of resources, and assignment of tasks for a team of engineers/services.
• Lead and perform team meetings and one one-on-one sessions to maintain status and align with team priorities and objectives.
• Collaborate and assist in the work prioritization and target deadline processes within and across IT teams.
• Determines technical specifications and approaches for new features, conducts code reviews, and mentors' other developers.
• Supervise team members in the establishment of internal best practices such as coding standards, peer reviews, code management, release management, environment management, process flows, and documentation.
• Troubleshoots production issues of all levels and severities, and tracks progress from identification through resolution.
• Maintains a culture of open communication, collaboration, mutual respect, and productive behaviors; participates in the hiring, training, and retention of top-tier talent and mentors team members to new and fulfilling career experiences.
• Provides context and insight to stakeholders across multiple functional areas requiring highly developed skills in presenting, listening, and leadership.
• Identifies risks, barriers, efficiencies, and opportunities when thinking through development approach; presents possible platform-wide architectural solutions based on facts, data, and best practices.
• Explores all technical options when considering solutions.
• Actively participates in collaborative effort through all phases of the software development life cycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, security requirements technical design, coding, testing, release, and customer technical support.
• Develop technical documentation, such as system context diagrams, design documents, data mappings, data models, and other pertinent artifacts.
• Leads efforts with the management of third-party technology partners, including assignments, service level agreements, quality standards, work product, and other deliverables as detailed in contractual agreements.
• Establishes relationships with key IT and business stakeholders and effectively and regularly communicates status updates for the entire team.
• Assist in the strategic annual planning processes.
• Assist in the goal setting and tracking processes across the team.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Computer Programming preferred
• Experience in one or more programming languages, such as: C#, ASP.net, VB.net, Typescript, React, JavaScript
• 6+ years in a Software Engineering role
• Experience with T-SQL preferred.

Preferred:

• Experience in one or more BI/Reporting tools: Cognos, Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent.
• Experience leading a team of engineers.
• Experience leading team meetings and coaching individuals
• Experience in one or more software development lifecycle methodologies required: Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, etc.
• Experience in many of the following business processes preferred: process manufacturing, sales and marketing, supply chain planning, inventory management, logistics optimization and distribution, procurement and plant maintenance, food safety and quality assurance, breeding and animal welfare, environmental resource management, finance, etc.
• Experience in one or more of the following industries preferred: Food and Beverage, Livestock, Energy, etc.
