We are seeking a full-time Software Engineer 1 for our office in Scottsdale, AZ. In this role, you will be responsible for developing software solutions for Garmin's AeroData products under supervision. AeroData is one of the largest aircraft performance, load planning, and weight and balance providers for air transport aircraft. In this capacity, we serve airlines worldwide and offer performance data to more than 70 percent of airline flights in North America.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions
Build upon existing software solutions to develop software in C# / Python for Garmin products and/or applications consistently following Garmin’s coding standards and in accordance with applicable software development methodology
Create and maintain database access systems including tables, indexes, views, stored procedures and triggers
Create functionality for features and take ownership of features as they evolve
Identify and resolve defects of basic scope using proper engineering tools and techniques such as debuggers, emulators, simulators, and logic analyzers
Troubleshoot basic issue reports, reproduce issues, evaluate technical cause and implement and test software solutions
Estimate level of effort, evaluate new options of similar technology, offer suggestions to improve processes, and provide comments on design aspects
Work collaboratively and professionally with other Garmin associates in cross functional teams to achieve goals
Support working hours as part of a rotating schedule to provide on call support of Garmin’s 24/7 operations
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Math, Physics or related field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
Demonstrated knowledge, education, experience and/or training necessary to develop basic software in C# (.NET core) or other selected languages
Desired Qualifications
Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
Previous work or internship experience in design, particularly for consumer products
Experience with data science in Python (NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, HDF5, linear regression0
Database experience (MS SQL and SQLite) and EF Core and SQL Server Management Studio
Familiarity with JavaScript, HTML, PowerShell, and unit testing
Desktop experience with Windows applications
