JOB DESCRIPTION:
Design, develop, build, implement, and maintain secure software systems and creative tools players use to collaboratively build their own games and spaces within Rec Room across multiple platforms, including but not limited to mobile, console, and Virtual Reality (VR). Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams on a wide variety of features and systems to prototype, design, develop, and build new software, features, and creative tools in a cross-platform UX framework. Own and drive new gameplay and creation features end to end, from pitch, iteration, and ship, through live service upkeep. Utilize broad range of game design techniques to make complex and intimidating User Generated Content creation tools accessible and easy to use for everyday gamers. Work autonomously to solve technical design and development problems. Proactively gather feedback from customer player community and iterate continuously through implementation. Research, deconstruct and analyze player needs and game mechanics from micro to macro-level to inform development decisions. Telecommuting permitted.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Games & Playable Media, Entertainment Technology, or a related field.
Six months of work experience in:
- Performing all facets of building, scripting, testing, and optimizing computer game content;
- Designing and implementing new gameplay and creating features end to end, including pitch, prototyping, and iteration;
- Working autonomously to solve technical problems and collaborate with cross-discipline teams using Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, and game engines such as Unity;
- Researching, deconstructing, and analyzing game mechanics from micro to high levels;
- Building complex user experiences by gathering feedback and iterating continuously through implementation; and
- Utilizing game design practices including defining goals, indirect control, and creating intuitive interactions
