Eaton's Protection, Control and Solutions Digital Organization is currently seeking a Software-Edge Architect. This position is located at our Moon Township, PA (Pittsburgh) Electrical Sector HQ location. Relocation assistance will be provided within the US/PR.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $116250.03 - $170500.04 a year.

What you'll do:
Eaton is seeking a Software Architect for the Protection, Control and Solutions (PCS) Digital organization who deeply understands software development cycles, tools and technologies, with a strong focus on electrical power equipment and edge device communications. This role will have both technical and professional management responsibilities to establish best coding & architectural practices, while leading and guiding distributed teams to manage and accomplish your vision.
PCS Digital is responsible for the cohesive development and delivery of web applications, mobile software, and cloud-enabled solutions ... many of which connect to physical devices at edge. The Architect will coordinate and establish a set of development guidelines to improve reuse in the division's software thus streamlining releases and speeding time-to-market. The PCS Digital development organization uses an Agile release methodology and is evolving to a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe™), so the candidate must have a strong, proven background in similar systems and Atlassian tool chains.
The managerial responsibilities for the SW Architect will include direct leadership for specific technology/support specialists (such as UI/UX) and cross-functional Technical Product Owners (TPO).

  • Plan software and communications interface architectures in order to write requirements, provide visual diagrams, author Epics and create the Definition of Done as teams progress toward new architectures
  • Leverage knowledge about best practices in Agile and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) to provide guidance and cross-functional software development leadership to a globally distributed team
  • Provide leadership and guidance to a team of directly reporting* technology specialists and Technical Product Owners. (* International employees will functionally report due to corporate HR structures/policies.)
  • Clearly and effectively communicate the rationale for the decisions to leadership who may not possess deep technical understanding of software and/or cloud architectures and processes
  • Assist the Software Development & Delivery Manager in annual budgeting & forecasting efforts
  • Develop reports and metrics around the successful execution of your role & responsibilities
  • Domestic and international leadership on projects is required and will necessitate calls and meetings which may often start by 6:00am ET

Qualifications:
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Developer, Software Engineer, Architect, Scrum Master, User Experience Designer, Interaction Designer, and/or Information Architect
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters in Engineering, Computer Science, MIS or other related/applicable field from an accredited institution
  • 15+ years' experience creating software and/or firmware for a wide variety of B2B solutions, including but not limited to: interfaces, backend systems, communications networks, from large electrical systems' dashboard displays and mobile devices
  • Deep, demonstrated electrical system knowledge, power systems knowledge & relevant field and lab experiences (especially focused on development and field troubleshooting, but also supported by-- but not limited to a Professional Engineer (PE) license or experience and participation on IEEE boards/organizations)
  • Deep, demonstrated Cybersecurity knowledge & experience
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) processes used within a global organization with multiple teams providing hardware, firmware, platforms, and communication stacks
  • Deep, demonstrated Azure knowledge & experience

Skills:
  • Demonstrated ability in creating highest quality user experiences
  • Familiarity with communications protocols, database architectures, code structures, web and mobile technologies and their impacts on the feasibility of solutions
  • The ability to grasp complex and diverse customer and development needs and distill them into clean, understandable processes and recommendations.
  • Develop Once, Deploy Anywhere best practices & processes
  • Device Configuration & Ontology best practices & processes
  • Licensing & User Management best practices & processes
