Genesis Systems, Inc. provides Information Technology Services (Software Development, support, hosting, etc.). and other diverse activities. Operating nationally and internationally, Genesis has been in existence for over 35+ years and continues to expand its operations.
This position is located near Austin, TX and is for an experienced shirt sleeve Software Development Manager who will ensure that software is designed and developed using sound, repeatable, industry standard methodologies and in accordance with Genesis’ Software Development project methodology; including but not limited to standards in code quality, performance, stability, and security.
Requirements:
- Must have broad software project delivery experience in leading teams developing applications using a variety of tools, languages, frameworks and technologies.
- Capable of managing concurrent projects and/or initiatives
- Expert knowledge of maintaining and debugging live software systems
- Providing advice, training, and technical support for various projects within their domain
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Possess technical writing knowledge around system design specification and technical documentation of software systems
Responsibilities:
- Build a culture of transparency, ownership, collaboration, accountability and quality
- Mentor and develop technical talent from new college hires to senior engineers
- Prioritizing work and managing performance of direct reports
- Interact and collaborate with many teams cross-functionally
- Develop and enforce quality standards and measures for the Software Development organization
- Ensure that software quality measures align with regulatory standards, industry standards, and accepted best practices
- Build methodologies and processes for the collection and analysis of data for ensuring software quality
- Documents, reviews, and ensures that all quality and change control standards are met
- Evaluates new technologies for adoption across the enterprise
- Fields questions from engineers, product teams, or support teams
- Monitors tools and participates in conversations to encourage collaboration across product teams
- Acts as a technical escalation point for the engineers on the team
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (preferred) in Computer Science or a related field, or other degree plus relevant Information Technology experience.
- Must have at least 5-7 years of experience and be comfortable leading highly technical teams through the Software Development lifecycle (SDLC) utilizing industry standard/best practice for Software Development approaches
- Experience should include: C#, ASP.NET, WCF, ENTITY FRAMEWORK, LINQ, HTML/CSS, AJAX, XML, OBJECT ORIENTED JAVASCRIPT, JQUERY, JSON, SQL SERVER, ORACLE, TEAM FOUNDATION SERVER (TFS), ACTIVE REPORTS, YAHOO CONTROLS, NOSQL Database (CouchDB), EXT JS.
