Job description

Innovation to never constrain customer growth is critical to AWS success. AWS is looking for a Software Development Manager for the team building a distributed system to automate how our regions should evolve and scale ahead of customer demand for lowest cost and highest availability. The manager will grow a team building in Native AWS for big data applications alongside Applied Scientists on optimization methods and scientific forecasting models including machine learning.
We are looking for an innovative, highly autonomous, and customer-focused software manager with a proven background of great judgment. In this role the manager will be responsible to lead the team in building a cross-organization distributed system through all phases of the Software Development cycle. The manager will partner with internal customers to understand current challenges and coach the team in delivering designs, and will carry the project from implementation all the way through validation and operations. The manager will need strengths in building and developing teams, strategic planning, and collaboration with other senior leaders.

Key job responsibilities
As a hands-on Software Development Manager:
You will lead in the design, implementation, and deployment of successful large-scale systems and services.
You will lead in the definition of secure, scalable, and reliable services. You define mechanisms that help your team deliver results for customers and raise the operational bar.
You will collaborate with the Principal Engineers to deliver best-in-class family of services to solve the problems and deliver an exemplary user experience to our customers.
A day in the life
As a hands-on Manager, you work closely with product management and your team to define the roadmap and manage delivery. You will participate in the design, implementation, and deployment of successful large-scale systems and services. You will participate in the definition of secure, scalable, and reliable services. You define mechanisms that help your team deliver results for customers and raise the operational bar. You will collaborate with the Principal Engineers to deliver best-in-class family of services to solve the problems and deliver an exemplary user experience to our customers.
