Key job responsibilities
The SDM-III owns cross-functional software for multiple Business Critical and Tier-II services in support of AVX for workflows including Deep Clean (suppressing ASINs with non-compliant main images), Woodchipper (removing prohibited images), Glow (Up ranking) AutoClean/GlowUp (Image GenAI) and Bouncer (preventing mutation of an ASIN). Each of these workflows require managing complex requirements at scale, processing >100M images each month to support ingestion of product images, detection of ML-based attribute classifications, and writing the detected attributes to the images in Media Central. The SDM-III is required to understand the team's products and systems that ingest and classify images, as well as their limitations including the customer impact for false positive attribute classification. The SDM-III will demonstrate good judgment on how and when to escalate without damaging relationships when confronted with discordant views, how best to deliver on goals including reducing abuse in product images, glance views landing on explicit imagery, and on images mutating an ASINs identity.
The SDM-III will support the team's adoption of high-quality engineering practices, and manage the level of maintenance for multiple systems owned by the team. They define and maintain metrics to monitor and track latency and operational availability of Imaging Quality Service, Woodchipper, and Bouncer.
